Travelers heading to Edinburgh Airport have been warned to expect delays after a serious crash closed part of the A8 near Newbridge on Monday morning, September 7.

Edinburgh Airport said an accident on the A8 was causing disruption on the main route to the airport, with police attending the scene and delays expected for passengers traveling to the terminal.

Police Scotland said the road was closed at Newbridge following a report of a serious crash at around 9:25am on Monday, September 7. Emergency services were sent to the scene and diversions were being put in place.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and use an alternative route while emergency services deal with the incident.

The A8 is an important access route for Edinburgh Airport and disruption in the Newbridge area can affect travelers approaching the airport by road. Passengers with flights scheduled during the disruption are being advised to allow additional time for their journeys.

Edinburgh Airport urged travelers to follow Traffic Scotland for the latest information on road conditions and delays and consider alternative routes where possible. Those being dropped off or collected at the airport should also allow extra time because congestion could extend beyond the immediate closure.

The road closure remains in place while emergency services respond to the crash and arrangements are made to manage traffic around Newbridge.
