Ahead of Miami Debut: Royal Caribbean’s Hero of the Seas Floats Out in Finland WATCH

Royal Caribbean’s newest Icon Class cruise ship, Hero of the Seas, has officially floated for the first time, marking a major milestone in its construction ahead of its planned August 2027 debut from Miami.

The float-out took place at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland, where more than 90 million gallons of water were pumped into the ship’s dry dock overnight. Once afloat, Hero of the Seas moved into the outfitting pier, where construction and preparations will continue ahead of its delivery and launch.

The milestone also included a traditional maritime cannon firing before the new ship entered the water for the first time.

A New Chapter for Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class

Hero of the Seas is being positioned as the next evolution of Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class, combining popular features from the existing fleet with new experiences aimed at families, couples and other vacationers.

The ship will feature eight neighborhoods, with Royal Caribbean promising a broad mix of attractions, accommodation, dining and entertainment.

Among its headline features will be nine pools and 28 dining venues, including the new Orleans Parrish Supper Club. The ship will also introduce the three-deck Ultimate Family Treehouse, designed as a distinctive accommodation option for families.

Thrill seekers will have access to Crown’s Edge, which combines elements of a skywalk and zip line experience at a height of around 154 feet above the ocean.

For passengers looking for a quieter experience, Hero of the Seas will feature the new Coconut Cove pool and The Hideaway, an adults-only space designed for relaxation.

Seven-Night Caribbean Cruises From Miami

Once Hero of the Seas enters service, the ship will sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami.

Every sailing is scheduled to include a visit to Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private destination in The Bahamas. Bookings for Hero of the Seas are already open through Royal Caribbean.

Hero of the Seas is expected to become another major addition to Royal Caribbean’s rapidly expanding Icon Class fleet, bringing new dining concepts, family accommodations, pools, entertainment and high-adrenaline attractions to the Caribbean cruise market from Miami.
