Air Cairo plane. Photo: Airbus Egyptian airline Air Cairo has signed an agreement to purchase 15 new Airbus A320neo aircraft at the El Alamein International Air Show 2026 in Egypt. This is a significant step for the company, as for the first time it is expected to directly own the aircraft, alongside its leased fleet.
The company has grown at an extremely rapid pace in recent years. Just five years ago, the company operated seven aircraft, and today its fleet includes more than 45 aircraft. The company has set an ambitious goal of reaching more than 130 aircraft by 2034 as part of a plan to expand its flight network in Egypt, the region, and international destinations.
According to the company, the acquisition will allow it to combine its owned and leased aircraft, increasing operational flexibility and improving financial efficiency. The A320neo aircraft are expected to increase capacity and meet growing demand for flights to and from Egypt.
Airbus welcomed the deal and noted that this is Air Cairo's first direct purchase from the manufacturer, which sees it as an expression of confidence in the A320neo and its ability to support the company's expansion.
