After weeks of intense heat, the weather in Italy is changing direction. In less than a day, temperatures have dropped noticeably across the country, along with local showers. For the many tourists currently in Italy, this is a significant change, especially after a period of heat stress.

In northern Italy, in the areas of Milan, Venice, and Turin, a noticeable change was felt, and temperatures became more comfortable. The first snowflakes of the season were already visible on the high peaks of the Alps.

In the center of the country, including Tuscany and Lazio, a cool breeze replaced the heavy heat of the beginning of the week and made travel more comfortable. In the south, in Sicily and Puglia, temperatures also dropped, with light winds along the coast.

Rome Under the Umbrellas

Heavy but intermittent rain fell in Rome, soaking the streets and major sites. Many tourists sought shelter in cafes and indoor venues, while others continued walking with umbrellas and waited for the weather to clear.

Despite the rain, tourist activity in the city continued, with the changing weather mainly altering the pace of travel and the choice between open and indoor sites.

And What's Expected This Weekend?

According to data from the Italian Air Force's forecast station, the upcoming weekend, September 11 to 13, is expected to be significantly more comfortable than the beginning of the week, though local showers are possible.

Friday, September 11: The rain will gradually weaken and turn into local showers. Partly cloudy skies are expected, with about 29 degrees during the day and 18 degrees at night.

Saturday, September 12: Temperatures will drop slightly, with a high of about 28 degrees. Skies will be partly cloudy and there is a low chance of localized rain in the afternoon.

Sunday, September 13: The weather is expected to remain stable and relatively comfortable, with around 28 degrees and light cloud cover. Conditions are expected to be suitable for walking around the city and visiting tourist sites.

For tourists in Italy, the change in weather may actually be an opportunity to continue their vacation in more comfortable conditions. However, those planning trips this weekend should pack an umbrella and monitor the local forecast, especially in the afternoo
