Photo: Ryanair Low-cost airline Ryanair announced today (September 10) its flight schedule for winter 2026 in Sweden.
According to the company, the schedule is expected to be its largest in the country to date. As part of the plan, the company will operate 43 routes, including five new ones, and will permanently station an additional aircraft at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
The new routes will connect Stockholm to Rabat, Warsaw to Wroclaw, Gothenburg to Budapest and Malmo to London. In total, Ryanair is expected to fly about 4.6 million passengers a year in Sweden, an increase of 16% compared to the same period last year.
The additional aircraft will bring the number of aircraft based in Sweden to eight, with Ryanair estimating its investment in the country at around $800 million. The company's operations are expected to provide more than 3,600 jobs, it said.
The expansion comes after the Swedish government abolished the country's aviation tax in July 2025, and also suspended the security fee until the end of 2026. Ryanair claims the move led to accelerated growth and an increase of about 760,000 passengers.
However, the company warns that continued growth is not guaranteed. According to it, airport fees charged by the local airport management company have increased by 22% since the cancellation of the airport tax, and the security fee is expected to jump by 67% starting this March.
In its announcement, Ryanair called on the Swedish government to permanently abolish the security fee and return airport fees to their 2024 level; otherwise, future investments could shift to more competitive markets in Europe.
