As previously reported, September is one of Madrid's busiest months for the tourism industry, with the Spanish capital hosting two major international events: the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix and Shakira's Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour, both expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors.

Air Europa has recently welcomed the Colombian superstar on board a flight from Barranquilla, as the singer prepares for her upcoming residency in Madrid.

The Spanish airline shared the news on social media, saying it had the pleasure of carrying Shakira from her hometown of Barranquilla to Spain for her EsLatinaFest residency.

The Madrid event will run from September 18 through October 11, with Shakira scheduled to perform across four weekends. The project is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors and will combine her concerts with music, food, literature, fashion and other cultural activities.

Air Europa also highlighted the wider connection between Barranquilla and Spain, noting that comparsas and local authorities traveled as part of the journey. Comparsas are traditional carnival groups closely associated with Barranquilla's cultural identity.

The airline's post comes as Shakira's Madrid residency gets ready to open. The singer arrived in Madrid on September 14, ahead of the first concert on September 18. Her 12-show schedule will run through October 11 at a purpose-built venue in the Spanish capital.

The Es Latina project has been designed as more than a series of concerts. The temporary site will feature areas dedicated to music, literature, gastronomy, fashion and art, while each concert night will end with a carnival inspired by Shakira's Barranquilla roots.

For Air Europa, Shakira's journey also fits the airline's role in connecting Spain with Latin America. The carrier operates flights between Spain and destinations across the region, with Madrid serving as its main European hub.
