A fire next to the tracks at East Croydon has forced the suspension of Gatwick Express services until further notice, according to Gatwick Express. The measure, announced today, September 17, at 10:37 AM local time, could potentially disrupt rail journeys to and from London Gatwick Airport.

Passengers holding Gatwick Express tickets have been advised to use them on alternative Southern and Thameslink services at no additional cost, according to Gatwick Express. The operator has advised passengers to use its journey planner to find alternative connections.

The fire is affecting the railway infrastructure near East Croydon rather than Gatwick Airport itself, so the disruption concerns the airport's rail links and does not mean the airport is closed.
