After a Dramatic Night in Vilnius: Restrictions Ended, Flights Resumed

The restrictions on the airspace above Vilnius Airport, imposed last night following the unusual event, have been set until early morning. Takeoffs from the airport have resumed

This morning's update from Vilnius: After a dramatic night of disruptions and restrictions in its airspace, the window of restrictions officially announced by the airport ended at 2:45 a.m., September 22.

According to the airport's latest official update, the restrictions were in effect from 11:25 PM last night until 2:45 AM, with takeoffs from Vilnius permitted starting at 12:55 AM.

It should be recalled that, in its official documents, the Lithuanian Airports Authority refers to the recurring events that cause disruption of the skies in the region as "hybrid attacks," and notes that since October 2025, Vilnius Airport's operations have been repeatedly disrupted by meteorological balloons carrying contraband cargo and penetrating the airspace, leading to temporary closures of the area and the diversion of aircraft to other airports.
