Opel reveals the name of a new concept car: Opel STX Concept. Photo: Opel Opel has revealed the name of its new concept car that will debut at the Paris Motor Show: Opel STX Concept, short for Sports Tourer eXperimental.
The new concept presents Opel's vision for the future of station wagons, with the letters ST referring to the manufacturer's Sports Tourer model family, including the Astra Sports Tourer.
Opel notes that the company helped establish the station wagon body in Europe with the introduction of the Olympia Rekord Caravan in 1953. Today, the Astra Sports Tourer continues the tradition, with a trunk capacity of up to 1,634 liters.
According to the company, the STX Concept will showcase Opel's future design language and will include elements that are expected to make it into future production models. The concept focuses, among other things, on aerodynamic efficiency and Opel's vision for the next generation of station wagons.
At the Paris Motor Show, Opel will also present the GSE 27FE, the manufacturer's electric race car for the 2026/27 Formula E season, alongside the STX. The car is equipped with permanent all-wheel drive, an output of more than 800 horsepower, and the ability to produce up to 700 kW during regenerative braking.
Alongside it will also be presented the Corsa GSE, the electric sports version of the Corsa, which is equipped with a power output of 207 kW, equivalent to 281 horsepower, and a torque of 345 Newton meters. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.5 seconds, and according to Opel, this is the fastest production car in the company's current offering.
Opel CEO Florian Huettl explained that, as suggested by the name, the Opel STX Concept presents their vision for the future of aerodynamically efficient station wagons, a vehicle type that Opel played a pioneering role in establishing in Europe.
Guettl went on to say that the new concept showcases their next-generation design language and includes elements that drivers will see in future production models.
