Photo: Shutterstock Turkish Airlines and Boeing announced today (Wednesday, September 23) the completion of a deal to purchase 100 Boeing 737-8 aircraft, along with an option to purchase 50 additional 737 MAX aircraft. According to the companies, this is the largest order Turkish has placed for Boeing narrow-body aircraft.
The deal concludes negotiations that began in 2025. It also includes an option to replace some of the aircraft ordered with the 737-10 model, the largest in the 737 MAX family. The companies did not disclose a delivery date for the aircraft or the value of the deal in their announcement.
According to Turkish Airlines, the new aircraft will give it the flexibility to expand its short- and medium-haul operations from its Istanbul hub. “The agreement is another significant step in the continued expansion of our fleet,” said Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, Prof. Murat Seker.
The current deal joins Turkish's order for up to 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in 2025. In both cases, the maximum number includes options: the agreement announced today ordered 100 aircraft, and an additional 50 are options only.
