Honduras Plane Crash: 12 Dead, 5 Survivors Rescued as Authorities Launch Investigation

A jet plane crash carrying 17 passengers in Roatan, Honduras.

Last night (Tuesday), a plane crashed into the sea immediately after takeoff from Juan Manuel Galvaro Airport, near Roatan, Honduras.

"The national police of Honduras expresses its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims in the tragic aviation accident that occurred on Tuesday, March 18, near Roatan. In this difficult moment," the police statement read.

The authority reported that 12 lifeless bodies have been found, while five survivors were transported using police vehicles to the nearest hospital.

The Honduran civil aviation authority announced that an investigation has been opened on the matter.
