The strike is expected to affect teachers, healthcare workers, firefighters and public transportation workers, among others. According to a statement from the US Embassy in France, train services may also be affected during the day.
In Paris, a major demonstration is expected to start from Place de la République and progress through the Bastille area to Place de la Nation. At the same time, the RATP transport company announced an indefinite strike, which began on the evening of September 28, and could disrupt the operation of the metro, RER trains and buses.
SNCF train services may also suffer disruptions following a strike announced by the SUD Rail organization for today.
Beyond transportation, the strike could also affect the activities of schools and government offices in Paris and the Ile-de-France region, with the possibility of closures or reductions in services.
Passengers arriving in Paris are advised to check the transportation status and line activity in advance before setting off, take into account longer travel times and prepare for alternative routes.
The US Embassy in France also recommends that travelers stay updated on transportation conditions and local reports during the day of the strike.
