Mazda CX-5. Photo: Mazda Mazda published its August 2026 production and sales data, showing higher global production alongside a mixed picture in sales across markets.
During August, Mazda produced 90,105 vehicles worldwide, an increase of 6.2% compared to August 2025. Production at the company's plants in Japan amounted to 49,325 vehicles, up 0.9%, while production outside Japan reached 40,780 vehicles, up 13.4%.
From the beginning of the year to the end of August, Mazda produced 796,645 vehicles, up 6.9% from the same period last year.
In domestic production in Japan, the CX-5 stood out, with 23,788 units produced in August, up 16.3% from August last year. The Mazda 3 totaled 8,829 units, up 3.4%, while CX-90 production reached 4,217 units, up 39%.
Outside Japan, the CX-50 led with 12,191 units, up 7.5%, and the CX-30 followed with 8,813 units, up 11.3%. The EZ-60/CX-6e model jumped 579.9%, with 5,317 units produced during the month.

Passenger car sales rose 14.4% to 10,524 units, while commercial vehicle sales fell 8.3% to 671 units.
However, cumulatively since the beginning of the year, there has been a 3.2% decrease in local sales, to 100,535 vehicles.
The CX-5 also stood out in sales in Japan, with 3,252 units sold in August, a 112% jump compared to the same period last year. The MAZDA2 sold 1,824 units, up 6.2%, and the MAZDA3 sold 1,224 units, up 43.3%.
Exports fell 1.6% in August, with 44,891 vehicles exported outside Japan. North America saw a 17.7% increase, to 20,060 vehicles, while Europe saw exports fall 24.3%, to 10,492 vehicles.
However, in the first nine months of the year through the end of August, the picture is different: Mazda's total exports amounted to 429,599 vehicles, an increase of 11.8%.

Europe rose 44.2% to 11,431 vehicles. In the United States, however, sales totaled 34,735 vehicles, a decrease of 8.9%.
In China, 5,648 vehicles were sold, down 1%, while other markets saw a 3.5% decrease to 35,872 vehicles.
From the beginning of 2026 to the end of August, Mazda sold 809,715 vehicles worldwide, down 4.4% from the same period last year. In Europe, sales rose 12.6% to 114,651 vehicles, while in the US they fell 6% to 275,754 vehicles.
Global sales in August were led by the CX-5 with 28,807 units, up 9.4%. The CX-30 sold 15,533 units, down 4.1%, and the MAZDA3 sold 12,817 units, up 10.9%.
