Two airports in Saudi Arabia were targeted in separate attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday, killing three people and injuring dozens of others, according to the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).
The attacks targeted facilities at Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport on October 6 and 7, respectively.
At Abha International Airport, two female residents, one Moroccan and one Algerian, were killed. Another 28 people were injured, including Saudi citizens and two residents of Bangladeshi and Filipino nationalities. GACA said the injuries ranged from minor to severe.
A separate attack on King Khalid International Airport resulted in the death of a Sudanese resident and injuries to eight people. Those injured included five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents and one Pakistani resident. Their injuries also ranged from minor to severe.
Emergency teams and relevant authorities responded immediately to both incidents, following established emergency procedures and response plans, GACA said.
All those injured were transferred to hospitals for medical treatment. The attacks also caused material damage to facilities at both airports.
GACA said it is working in coordination with the relevant security authorities to assess the damage and take measures aimed at protecting passengers and airport employees.
The authority said the measures are also intended to maintain the security and safety of Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation system.
Meanwhile, the Yemeni Ministry of Transportation announced that the Aden International Airport was attacked early this morning (Thursday, October 8, 2026) with two ballistic missiles and several booby-trapped drones.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Transportation, one of the missiles fell near the runway just minutes before the landing of Yemenia Airlines flight number 603, which arrived from Cairo.
Following the incident, the plane's landing was canceled and it changed its route and landed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. At the same time, two planes on the ground at the airport, one belonging to Yemenia and one belonging to Aden Airlines were evacuated from the danger zone. Authorities also evacuated the terminal building of passengers and employees, after reports of the presence of several drones in the skies over Aden.
