Southwest Airlines is warning passengers that forecasted weather conditions could disrupt scheduled flights in parts of Florida and Louisiana from Thursday through Saturday, October 8 to 10.

The airline said flights to, from or through Destin/Fort Walton Beach, Florida (VPS), New Orleans, Louisiana (MSY), Panama City Beach, Florida (ECP), and Pensacola, Florida (PNS) could be affected. Potential disruptions include flight delays and cancellations.

Passengers with existing reservations can choose to keep their current travel plans, although Southwest warns that scheduled service may be disrupted.

The airline is also offering eligible customers the option to rebook or travel standby without paying a change in airfare. The flexibility applies to customers traveling to, from or through the affected cities on the corresponding dates.

Eligible passengers can rebook or travel standby within 14 days of their original travel date, provided they travel between the original city pairs.

Southwest is also outlining refund options for customers whose flights are canceled or significantly delayed. Passengers who choose to cancel their trip as a result may be eligible for a refund of their unused ticket, including tickets that were originally non-refundable.

Customers may also qualify for refunds of optional travel charges paid for flights they do not take, including services such as Extra Legroom seating or Priority Boarding.

Most customers can make changes to their travel plans online or through Southwest's mobile services. Passengers traveling with Getaways by Southwest vacation packages have separate procedures and must contact the airline by phone for assistance.

Southwest is advising passengers to monitor their individual flight status before traveling, as weather conditions and operational plans can change.
