Therme Bucharest is holding the eighth edition of Sauna Fest from October 5 to 25, bringing international sauna performers, theatrical productions, live music, and cold-water experiences to Europe's largest thermal wellness destination in Bucharest.

The 21-day event features more than 800 multisensory shows and around 100 Aufguss masters from 29 countries. The performances combine music, costumes, theatrical storytelling, and choreographed towel movements to circulate hot, scented steam through the sauna, with temperatures exceeding 70°C.

The festival’s program extends beyond traditional sauna rituals. Visitors can attend stand-up comedy sessions in the Hollywood sauna, scheduled for October 11, 24 and 25.

Another attraction is Theatre of Scent, a 12-minute live performance combining acting, music, immersive visuals and essential oils to tell the story of a fragrance. The production is scheduled on selected dates between October 10 and 25. Participants are also due to receive a complimentary 3 ml perfume sample after the show.

Dance is also part of the program. On October 10, dancer Ryan Pavel is scheduled to perform alongside an Aufguss master in the Provence sauna, combining contemporary dance with the heat and atmosphere of the sauna.

From October 16 to 25, the event will expand with the Sauna Village, a dedicated area featuring saunas from international and Romanian manufacturers. Visitors can explore different sauna designs and try a Nordic-style hot-and-cold ritual, moving from the sauna to an outdoor pool maintained at 12–14°C.

The festival also includes performances inspired by Romanian folklore, live vocals and traditional instruments, alongside workshops for children. Weekend activities in the Galaxy area include shadow theatre, puppetry and acting sessions.

Among the themed sauna shows are Carmen, a theatrical adaptation of the opera; The Chocolate Girl, inspired by an 18th-century painting; Tale of the Three Brothers, drawing on the Harry Potter universe; and Audrey, a performance based on the life of Audrey Hepburn.

All Sauna Fest performances are included with admission to Therme’s Elysium area. Access to individual shows is on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to each sauna’s capacity. The venue advises visitors that saunas are cleared 15 minutes before performances begin to allow preparations.

The event runs through October 25, with the full program and ticket information available on the official Therme Bucharest website.
