Ramon Airport records a 17% increase in passenger traffic - and tourists from France are making a comeback.
Following the publication of passenger traffic forecasts at Ben Gurion, a significant increase in activity has also been recorded at Ramon Airport.
According to the Airport Authority's data, approximately 70,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airport in April on domestic flights from Ben Gurion and Haifa - a rise of about 17% compared to last Passover period.
The international activity at Ramon is also expanding: in addition to two weekly flights to Athens, just before the Passover holiday, a "airlift" of seven charter flights from France is expected to land at the airport, bringing about 1,000 tourists from Paris directly to Eilat.
The planes are scheduled to land on April 10 and 11, returning tourists to France after the second holiday.
The resumption of international flights to Eilat is a significant step after years in which operations were halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later due to the war.
The Airport Authority and Ramon Airport prepared in advance for the expected growth, coordinating fully with operators and business partners to ensure a quick and quality service experience for passengers - both locals and tourists alike.
The Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, welcomed the trend: "The State of Israel is revitalizing incoming tourism to Eilat - our southern city, which serves as an important tourist hub. We are utilizing all the tools at our disposal to encourage the return of tourists and strengthen air routes to the city. I commend the Airport Authority for their successful preparation and for the significant resumption of international operations at Ramon."
