Leonardo Hotels Central Europe is expanding its German portfolio with two hotel acquisitions in Regensburg and Kiel, while completing the renovation and rebranding of a third property in Magdeburg.

"We Are Pursuing Growth in Germany"

The company acquired the former Holiday Inn Express Regensburg on October 15 and the former Steigenberger Conti Hansa in Kiel on October 21. The Magdeburg property, previously operating as an IntercityHotel, has reopened under the name Leonardo Magdeburg City Center following extensive modernization work.

“We are pursuing growth in Germany at several levels,” said Yoram Biton, managing director of Leonardo Hotels Central Europe. He said the acquisitions would strengthen the company's presence in additional locations, while investments in existing properties support their long-term development.

New Hotels in Regensburg and Kiel

The Leonardo Smart Regensburg has 144 rooms and is located near the historic center of the UNESCO World Heritage city. Facilities include a breakfast buffet, a 24-hour bar, free Wi-Fi and two meeting rooms that can be combined to accommodate up to 16 people.

The hotel is within reach of Regensburg's main railway station and landmarks such as the city's cathedral, making it suitable for both leisure and business travelers.

In Kiel, Leonardo Hotels has entered the state capital of Schleswig-Holstein with the Leonardo Royal Conti Hansa Kiel. The 164-room property, formerly the Steigenberger Conti Hansa, is located opposite the Baltic Quay's two cruise terminals.

The hotel offers standard rooms, family rooms and junior suites, as well as a renovated 75-square-meter grand suite with a separate bedroom and living and dining areas. Other facilities include a restaurant serving regional and international dishes, a bar and lounge with a pool table, a gym, a sauna and an outdoor terrace.

Eleven rooms with terraces or balconies are available for meetings and events, with a combined capacity of up to 270 people. Its location between Kiel's city center, main railway station and cruise terminals serves business travelers, tourists and cruise passengers.

Magdeburg Hotel Completes Renovation

The Leonardo Magdeburg City Center began operating under its new name on October 19. The property was acquired last year, and the latest renovation covered its guest rooms and public spaces, including the restaurant, bar and lobby.

The updated interiors combine neutral shades such as beige, cream and gray with warm yellow and terracotta accents. Large windows and plants add natural light and greenery to the shared areas, which have been arranged to accommodate both informal meetings and relaxation.

The hotel also has five meeting rooms covering a total of 234 square meters. The largest measures 90 square meters and can host up to 70 participants.

Located next to Magdeburg's main railway station, the hotel is around one kilometer from attractions including Magdeburg Cathedral, the Green Citadel and the Elbe Promenade.

The three properties reflect Leonardo Hotels Central Europe's strategy of expanding through acquisitions while upgrading existing hotels. The latest moves extend its presence across several German cities and add accommodation options for business travelers, city visitors and cruise passengers.
