American airline United Airlines opened today (October 22) the new Terminal B North complex at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, Texas. The complex covers approximately 71,000 square meters, includes three floors and 22 boarding gates, and is designed to increase capacity and improve the passenger experience.
The new complex is part of a $2.6 billion Terminal B upgrade. Together with the South Concourse, the terminal will have 48 gates. All United flights departing from the North Concourse will board via boarding bridges, eliminating the need for shuttle buses to the aircraft.
Passengers' Club With Outdoor Terrace
One of the main attractions in the complex is the new United Club, which covers approximately 5,017 square meters and includes seating for 800 passengers. The club offers an outdoor terrace of approximately 125 square meters with a view of the flight paths, two bars, food stands, private telephone rooms, high-speed Wi-Fi and electrical outlets.
The terminal also includes a restaurant and retail complex covering more than 9,750 square meters, with local brands including B&B Butchers, Rosie Cannonball and Blood Bros. BBQ, alongside well-known American chains.
Alongside these, a dedicated room has been established for passengers with autism and sensory sensitivities, which includes activity areas and relaxing spaces. The complex also incorporates ten works of art inspired by Houston's culture, history and nature.
United, which employs more than 14,000 people in Houston and operates more than 500 flights a day from there, has invested more than $3.5 billion in the airport since 2015. The company notes that the upgrade will allow it to increase the number of passengers it can carry on peak days by 40% in 2026, compared to 2023.
