Etihad Airways has introduced its Airbus A380 on flights between Abu Dhabi and Bangkok for the first time, launching daily operations with its largest passenger aircraft on October 26.

The inaugural service marks the first time the airline's flagship aircraft has operated to Thailand, bringing additional capacity to the popular route ahead of the winter travel season. It also introduces The Residence, Etihad's exclusive three-room private suite, to the Thai market.

The daily service connects Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi with Bangkok, offering passengers access to all four cabin classes aboard the double-decker aircraft: The Residence, First Apartments, Business and Economy.

Etihad CEO Antonoaldo Neves said the deployment responds to customer demand and reflects the airline's confidence in the continued growth of Thailand and the wider Asian market.

The airline said the additional capacity would also strengthen connections through Abu Dhabi for passengers travelling between Thailand, the Middle East and Europe.

Three-Room Suite Mmakes Thailand Debut

The A380's most exclusive offering is The Residence, a private suite designed for up to two passengers. The 125-square-foot space includes a separate living room, a bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a full-height shower.

The experience also includes dedicated cabin crew, fine dining, luxury bedding, complimentary Wi-Fi and access to a private lounge suite in Abu Dhabi. Etihad Chauffeur service is also included.

The First cabin features nine private Apartments with sliding doors, reclining leather seats that convert into beds, individual refreshment cabinets and access to an onboard shower room.

On the upper deck, 70 Business seats provide direct aisle access and convert into fully flat beds measuring 80 inches. Passengers can also use The Lobby, an onboard lounge and bar between the First and Business cabins.

Economy accommodates 415 passengers, with adjustable headrests, individual entertainment screens, USB charging and Wi-Fi connectivity. Etihad also offers Neighbour-Free seating, allowing travellers to purchase additional space around their seats.

Daily Flights Connect Abu Dhabi and Bangkok

The A380 operates daily in both directions, with overnight departures from Abu Dhabi and morning departures from Bangkok.

Etihad flight EY402 leaves Abu Dhabi at 9:20 p.m. and arrives in Bangkok at 6:35 a.m. the following day. The return flight, EY403, departs Bangkok at 8:35 a.m. and reaches Abu Dhabi at 12:20 p.m. All times are local.

Bangkok's addition follows the introduction of daily A380 flights between Abu Dhabi and Tokyo in June 2026, expanding the aircraft's presence in Asia.

Passengers traveling through Abu Dhabi can also use Etihad's stopover program, which offers a complimentary hotel stay of up to two nights, allowing travelers to explore the UAE capital before continuing their journey.
