Significant disruptions are expected in ferry traffic in Greece towards the end of this coming weekend.
Blue Star Ferries has officially announced sailing cancellations and schedule changes on Friday, October 30, 2026, following a 24-hour strike.
The disruptions are expected to affect passenger traffic from the port of Piraeus, the main gateway to the Greek islands, the Cyclades and other destinations in the Aegean Sea.
The company's official announcement, updated on October 26 at 3:00 PM, details the canceled cruises and the changes scheduled for other cruises.
According to the company's announcement, the BLUE STAR 1 cruise, scheduled to depart from Piraeus on Friday at 07:25 on the Paros, Naxos, Santorini, Ios route and return via Naxos and Paros to Piraeus, has been canceled.
In addition, the BLUE STAR PAROS cruise, which was supposed to depart from Piraeus at 07:30 for Syros, Tinos and Mykonos and return to Piraeus, was canceled.
These are lines that connect Athens to some of the most well-known and sought-after tourist islands in Greece.
The company clarifies that passengers who booked tickets for canceled cruises are required to make a change to their reservation through the travel agency or booking channel through which they purchased the ticket.
The Islands Near Athens Are Also Affected
The strike is also expected to affect fast sailings to islands that are a relatively short distance from Athens.
According to the company's announcement, a series of AERO HIGHSPEEDS cruises from Piraeus to Aegina, Agistri, Poros, Hydra and Spetses have been canceled, including round-trip cruises scheduled for the morning, afternoon and evening hours.
Among other things, cruises scheduled to depart from Piraeus at 06:30, 08:00, 08:30, 10:00, 10:40, 11:30, 12:30, 14:00, 14:40, 16:30 and 18:40 were canceled.

Not All Cruises Have Been Canceled: Some Will Depart Later
Alongside the cancellations, Blue Star Ferries has published alternative schedules for some of its ships.
The ship BLUE STAR MYCONOS is expected to depart from Piraeus on Friday at 11:00 PM, sailing via Syros, Mykonos, Avdilos, Fourni, Samos, Chios, Mytilene and Limnos, to Thessaloniki.
The ship BLUE STAR CHIOS is also expected to depart from Piraeus at 11:00 PM, on a route that includes Santorini, Anafi, Heraklion, Sitia, Kasos, Karpathos, Halki, and Rhodes.
The BLUE STAR NAXOS ship is scheduled to depart from Piraeus at 11:30 PM, on a route that includes Paros, Naxos and other islands.
For cruises with different departure dates, the company states in some cases that there is no need to change the ticket.
Traveling to the Islands? It's Important to Check Before Leaving for the Port
The planned strike could disrupt travel plans of tourists planning to transit between the islands, return to Athens, or connect to international flights.
Passengers who have booked a sailing for October 30, as well as passengers on certain routes on the following Saturday, are asked to check the updated sailing details.
Those who ordered directly through the company's website, the service center, or the seamore app can contact the company's hotline at +30 210 8919800.
It is important to emphasize that the cancellations and changes detailed are those confirmed by Blue Star Ferries, and it should not be concluded from them that all ferry traffic in Greece is suspended.
