After Iberia announced it has increased flights to Andalusia by 20%, added 520 seats and capped fares at €99 in Economy and €149 in Business following the fatal train accident in Toledo, Air Europa is also showing solidarity for the victims and all those who were impacted by the tragedy that claimed 68 lives.
The airline will offer rebooking options, alternative flights and refunds to passengers whose journeys have been affected by the accident which has led to the cancellation of train services from Madrid to the Southern Corridor.
The company also announced special arrangements for customers with combined flight and train bookings made through Air Europa involving rail operator Iryo. The options apply to passengers whose journeys have been disrupted, whether they booked a flight followed by a train journey or a train followed by a flight.
Air Europa said it was deeply saddened by the accident and expressed its support for those affected and their families.
Free Date Changes and Alternative Flights
Passengers with affected bookings can change the date of an Air Europa-operated flight free of charge, provided they remain in the same cabin class and travel within 15 days of their original departure date.
Another option is to replace the train portion of the journey with an Air Europa-operated flight. Passengers can travel on their original date or on the first available date on the alternative route.
Customers who do not yet know when they will be able to travel can request a voucher for the value of their ticket. The credit can be used toward a future purchase for any destination served by Air Europa and is refundable, according to the airline.
Passengers whose flights have been canceled can also request a refund.
How to Request Changes or a Refund
The procedure depends on where the ticket was purchased. Passengers who booked through a travel agency should contact the agency directly to arrange changes or request a refund.
Those who purchased their tickets directly from Air Europa should contact the airline's call center.
The airline also advised passengers to ensure their contact details are up to date in their bookings so they can receive notifications about changes affecting their journeys.
The arrangements come as rail services from Madrid to Spain's Southern Corridor face disruption following the Toledo accident. Passengers with combined rail and air itineraries are advised to check their booking details and contact the relevant provider before traveling.
