Hyatt Hotels Corporation says its Canadian portfolio of open hotels has quadrupled in less than 10 years, with more than 40 hotel deals in its development pipeline and 10 properties expected to open in 2027.

2027, Its Biggest Year Yet

The company expects 2027 to be its biggest year for hotel openings in Canada, as it expands into new destinations and introduces additional brands across luxury, upper-midscale and extended-stay accommodation.

Recent additions to Hyatt’s Canadian portfolio include The Clayfield, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, in Niagara-on-the-Lake; Hyatt Place Vancouver / Metrotown in Burnaby, British Columbia; Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls Fallsview in Ontario; and Hyatt House Thunder Bay.

Among the upcoming projects, Park Hyatt Vancouver is expected to expand the group’s luxury presence on Canada’s West Coast. It will complement Park Hyatt Toronto, giving the brand a presence in two major Canadian gateway cities.

Hyatt is also preparing to introduce its Unscripted by Hyatt collection to Canada through a partnership with Haida Enterprise Corporation, the economic development arm of the Haida Nation.

Two properties on Graham Island in British Columbia’s Haida Gwaii region, Haida House at Tllaal in Tlell and Ocean House at Tlaga Gawtlaas in Old Massett, are set to join the collection.

The partnership is intended to bring the properties to a wider international audience while preserving their Haida ownership, identity and connection to the region.

Hyatt is also expanding its presence in the upper-midscale and extended-stay segments through the introduction of Hyatt Select and Hyatt Studios in Canada.

Hyatt Select Kingston, in Ontario, is expected to open later in 2026 and will mark the brand’s Canadian debut. Two more properties, Hyatt Select Prince Albert and Hyatt Studios Prince Albert, are expected to open in Saskatchewan in 2027 as part of a dual-branded development.

Hyatt Select is designed to give hotel owners a flexible option for converting existing properties, while Hyatt Studios targets longer stays with apartment-style suites featuring kitchens and practical amenities.

Both brands will give participating hotels access to Hyatt’s global commercial platform and World of Hyatt loyalty program.

Hyatt said its Canadian expansion reflects demand for a broader range of accommodation options and its relationships with owners and developers. With more than 40 deals in the pipeline, the company is positioning itself for further growth across the country.
