Miami-Dade Mayor to PassportNews: "Everyone Already Knows - Israel is the 'Startup Nation of the World'"
Exclusive: Daniella Levine Cava visited Israeli Tech Week in Miami, praising the strong Israeli presence and sharing insights on U.S. tech: "During my visit to Israel, I met with the Innovation Authority — we drew real inspiration from them"
“It’s truly wonderful to be here — not just at the eMerge fair, but right here at the Israeli booth as part of Israel Tech Week in Miami Beach. How cool is that!”
With those enthusiastic words, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella LevineCava visited the Israeli booth yesterday during the major eMerge Americas technology conference, where she also spoke with PassportNews, the official media partner of the event
"We all know that Israel is a 'Startup Nation'. My first work trip in this role was to Israel, it makes sense because after all I am the first Jewish mayor ever, and there I saw the Israeli tech week - in Israel".
Israeli Inspiration
During her visit to Israel, Levine Cava says she met with the Innovation Authority people, who's operational principles were replicated in Miami. "This was a tremendous inspiration for us in establishing the Miami-Dade Innovation Authority, and of course we are always looking for more ways to collaborate".
It’s worth noting that while the Mayor of Miami-Dade received a comprehensive overview at the Israeli and local municipal booths — where she spent a significant portion of her visit — she did not tour all the booths at the tech fair.

Levine Cava, the first Jewish mayor of Miami-Dade County, maintains a strong connection with the local Jewish community and is a member of one of the city’s synagogues. Since the outbreak of the war, she has consistently expressed unwavering support for Israel.
In a video posted to social media on October 7, 2024, marking one year since the war began, she stated: “We continue to call for the safe release of all hostages, for an end to the war in the region, and for the pursuit of peace. We want to honor the strength of the Jewish people in Israel and around the world, and their steadfastness alongside hope for peace and security.”
Levine Cava added: “Together, we are committed to creating a world without violence, and to peace between nations in order to build a more tolerant and inclusive community.”
