The international hotel giant IHG Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its operations in the world's leading tourist destinations, and this time with new news from one of the most popular destinations for travelers: Thailand.
The group announced on Thursday, October 29, that it signed an agreement to open the first hotel in Asia under the Ruby lifestyle brand in Bangkok.
The new hotel, expected to open in 2027, will mark the brand's first entry into the Asia Pacific region since joining the IHG group.
The move is being carried out in collaboration with Asset World Corporation, one of IHG's business partners in Thailand.
184 Rooms, Live Music and a 24-Hour Bar
The new hotel will be built in Bangkok's Sathorn area, one of the capital's main business and hospitality hubs.
It will include 184 guest rooms and offer a design concept that combines local heritage with a contemporary hospitality experience.
The design inspiration comes from the Siamese period of the 1920s, with an emphasis on a tropical atmosphere, music, design, and stories from local culture.
Among the planned features: a 24-hour bar, live music performances in the evenings, Marshall speakers in the rooms and the possibility of borrowing guitars during your stay.
The rooms are also designed with extra-large beds, rain showers and digital self-service systems.
The concept is designed to appeal to an audience looking for an urban hospitality experience that combines design, music and comfort, and not just a hotel room.
The Ruby brand, acquired by IHG in 2025, is associated with a hospitality concept known as Lean Luxury: a combination of meticulous design and a quality hospitality experience while focusing on the services and features that are important to guests.
The brand focuses on sought-after urban locations, social experiences, and creating a design identity for each hotel.
According to IHG, the brand has more than 40 hotels in operation and under development in Europe and the United States, and the group aims to expand its operations to more than 120 hotels over the next decade.
The entry into Thailand is part of the strategy to expand the brand's presence into new markets, with Bangkok expected to serve as a starting point for further expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.
The new announcement joins IHG's development momentum in Thailand.
According to the group's data, it currently operates 42 hotels in the country, and at the same time has a development backlog of 41 additional hotels.
Its operations span 11 destinations in Thailand and include 11 different brands.
Among the group's well-known brands are InterContinental, Six Senses, Regent, Kimpton, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Hotel Indigo.
The expansion is intended to strengthen the group's hospitality offering in a variety of categories, from luxury hotels to urban hotels and hotels designed for families and business travelers.
IHG explains that Bangkok is particularly suitable for Ruby's hospitality concept, thanks to its urban nature, local culture, and being a regional tourism and business center.
Rajit Sukumaran, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of East Asia and Pacific at the group, noted that Ruby's entry into Thailand marks a significant milestone in the brand's expansion and collaboration with Asset World Corporation.
According to him, the group sees Thailand as a major tourism market with long-term growth potential, and intends to explore additional opportunities for brand expansion in major cities in Asia.
The opening is planned for 2027, but the company has not yet announced an exact opening date or accommodation prices.
