Travel disruptions between Madrid and southern Spain continue: National railway company Renfe announced that the alternative transport plan between Madrid and Andalusia will not launch today, Friday, October 30, as planned.
The arrangement is intended to provide a solution for passengers after the high-speed train line was shut down following the horrendeous accident between Los Yebanes and Urda in the Toledo district. Now it turns out the alternative operation is also delayed.
According to Renfe's announcement, the locomotive drivers' union SEMAF demanded that the 96-hour period stipulated in the regulations be adhered to for changing work arrangements.
The company explains that this requirement prevents the operation of the alternative system before Tuesday, November 3.
This is not a commitment that the service will begin that day. The company said it will publish the final format, including schedules, routes, available services, and the start date of operations, before November 3, once preparations are complete.
The original plan was to operate the alternative transportation system starting today (Friday, October 30) as long as high-speed train traffic between Madrid and Andalusia remains suspended. The company's announcement now changes the plan that passengers had been relying on.
