The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued a weather warning this morning, November 3, citing fears of flash floods, inundations, and landslides in the south of the country.

According to the warning, thunderstorms, strong winds, hail and locally heavy rain are expected on November 5-7. The stormy weather is expected to affect northeastern Thailand first and then other areas. The public in affected areas is asked to avoid being in open areas and near large trees and billboards that are not well anchored.

In the South: Fear of Floods and Landslides

Rainfall is expected to increase in southern Thailand from November 7-9, with heavy and, in some areas, very heavy rain. Authorities are warning that the accumulation of precipitation could cause flash floods, overflowing water and landslides, especially near waterways in foothills and low-lying areas.

Danger is also expected at sea: In the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, waves may exceed two meters in thunderstorm areas. The Meteorological Service is urging all vessels to proceed with caution and avoid sailing in storm areas.
