A powerful 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Colombia today (November 3, 2026) at around 6:00 a.m. The epicenter was in the Tolima region, a city a few hours' drive from the capital, Bogota. Today's earthquake comes about three months after the deadly one in August.

According to the Colombian Geological Survey, buildings were evacuated in several cities where the earthquake was felt, and scans are being carried out to confirm or rule out damage or casualties.

As you may recall, in August, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck the Bogota area, causing severe damage to infrastructure, airports, and buildings in the country's major cities. More than 130 people were killed.

Rescue forces worked for days to rescue the injured, whose number reached many hundreds, and evacuated them to hospitals in the area.
