Passengers planning to fly to or from Italy today (Friday, November 6) may encounter disruptions at Bari International Airport in the south of the country, following a planned strike by air traffic control workers.

According to an official announcement from the Italian aviation control authority ENAV, the strike is expected to begin at 1:00 PM and last until 5:00 PM, a four-hour period during which airport activity could be affected.

The Fast Confsal AV workers' union announced the strike, which focuses on Bari Airport, a major gateway to the Puglia region, one of southern Italy's most popular tourist destinations.

The Italian aviation control authority emphasizes that despite the strike, essential services required by law will continue to operate.

The Italian Ministry of Transport also confirms the strike in the official strike register and lists its planned hours of operation.

In light of the strike, passengers whose flights are scheduled to take off from or land in Bari during the strike hours are advised to check the flight status with the airline and stay updated on airport announcements.

As of this stage, official announcements confirm the strike, but do not indicate the number of flights that were canceled or delayed as a result.
