A Unique Dialogue on Tourism: Swiss Ambassador Hosts Meeting Focused on Cultural Travel Needs
Earlier this week, a special meeting was held at the office of Swiss Ambassador to Israel, Simon Geissbühler, bringing together Dudi Rubinstein, an advisor on tourism for the religious community, and Rabbi Israel Gutman, a resident of Zurich and Jerusalem who leads workshops for Swiss airlines and tourism organizations on how to better serve faith-based travelers.
Ambassador Geissbühler emphasized the importance of open, respectful dialogue and the value of listening and learning about the unique needs of religious travelers visiting Switzerland.
Rubinstein spoke about Switzerland’s growing popularity among observant travelers, particularly during the summer months. With its cool climate and peaceful landscapes, the country offers an ideal alternative to Israel’s intense heat. Ski resorts, repurposed in the summer as tranquil retreats, attract many families as well as prominent rabbinic figures and Hasidic leaders.
Key topics raised during the meeting included the challenge of accessing glatt kosher meat, the need for prayer facilities in cities and tourist destinations, and the importance of clear and trustworthy kosher supervision in hotels.
