The airline Ryanair continues its zero-tolerance policy towards disruptive passengers – and announced today (Tuesday, April 8) that it has filed a civil lawsuit against a troublesome passenger in Poland, demanding compensation of over €3,000.
The incident occurred on January 9 this year, on flight FR7124 from Berlin to Marrakech, which had to deviate from its course and land at Seville Airport due to the unacceptable behavior of one of the passengers. As a result of the incident, both passengers and crew were affected: 170 passengers and 6 crew members had to cope with serious delays and disruptions to the flight.
The company emphasized that in addition to the financial lawsuit, the passenger has been banned from flying for five years, and he has been reported to the enforcement authorities in Spain – the Civil Guard.
In its statement, Ryanair clarified its commitment to creating a safe and respectful environment on its flights:
"It is an unacceptable situation where 170 passengers suffer due to the behavior of a single passenger. We have decided to file a civil lawsuit for damages, and we hope that this step will serve as a deterrent for other passengers. This behavior will not go unanswered," said the company spokesperson.
Ryanair implements a zero-tolerance policy towards violent, disruptive, or threatening behavior towards crew or passengers, and stated that it will continue to act decisively against anyone who jeopardizes the safety or proper operation of the flight.
