Stockholm Skavsta Airport is announcing the launch of a historic new route.
Starting June 1, 2025, SkyUp Airlines from Ukraine will launch direct flights between Chisinau (RMO) and Stockholm (NYO) – with two regular weekly flights.
This is the first direct route ever established between Moldova and Sweden, connecting the capitals of both countries – Chisinau and Stockholm – with a direct flight.
Beyond its diplomatic and tourism significance, the route is expected to serve as a major avenue for Ukrainian citizens traveling between Ukraine and Western Europe through Moldova.
The new routes are expected to add about 31,000 seats per year between the cities – enhancing tourism, business, and visit exchanges between the two nations.
SkyUp Airlines started operating regular direct flights last year from Chisinau, Moldova's capital, to a number of key destinations in Europe, including Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, France, and Spain.
It is worth mentioning that SkyUp, which was forced to suspend operations due to the war in Russia in early 2022, managed to shift its operations from Ukraine to Europe, the USA, and Canada, operating various routes in Europe and America and receiving significant praise in the aviation world. After receiving official IATA certification for operational safety standards in the aviation industry, it began to operate wet lease flights in Europe for many airlines in various countries.
At Skavsta Airport, the move was welcomed, noting that it represents another important step in opening new markets and bringing communities in Eastern and Western Europe closer together
