After a challenging period, Israelis are returning to the skies – and in a big way.
A look at the flight data shows that the tourism sector is gradually recovering from the impacts of the war alongside adaptations to flight prices and the availability of routes. The list of the top ten destinations also reveals interesting changes in the vacation habits of Israelis.
So who is leading in first place? Which city has seen a surprising decline? And where are travelers heading much more than last year? Here are all the answers:
1. Dubai – 315,442 passengers | 8.8% of travelers | Surge of 134% compared to last year
The Emirates are once again at the forefront – particularly Dubai, which has become the most sought-after destination by Israelis during this period. Besides being a standout tourist destination in its own right, it also serves as a convenient connection point to faraway locations in the Far East and Africa, thanks to a wide variety of flights and especially competitive prices. The numbers speak for themselves: an increase of more than twofold compared to early 2024.
2. Athens – 274,245 passengers | 7.64% of travelers | Increase of 80%
Geographical proximity, warm hospitality, and affordable prices have made Athens an especially beloved destination, particularly since the war began, when Israelis searched for accessible, safe, and economical vacation spots.

Despite a slight decline in numbers, New York remains stable on the list of destinations. Flights are split between the two main airports – JFK and Newark – indicating flexibility and diverse alternatives, but also increasing competition from cheaper and closer destinations.
4. Paris - 189,106 passengers | 5.3% of travelers | Increase of 32%
Paris is strengthening again as a beloved destination. The connection between high culture, French cuisine, and numerous flight options to Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports makes it especially attractive.
5. London – 163,371 passengers | 4.55% of travelers | Increase of 48%
Despite the high cost of living, London maintains its position thanks to its cultural wealth, impressive shopping, and numerous low-cost options – especially to Luton airport, which is gaining popularity over Heathrow.

7. Budapest – 153,296 passengers | 4.3% of travelers | Increase of 198%
Budapest also recorded a dramatic leap. Attractive prices, short distance, and popular thermal baths position it as one of the prominent destinations at the start of the year.
8. Larnaca – 147,727 passengers | 4.1% of travelers | Increase of 50%
Larnaca benefits from its proximity to Israel and the simplicity of short vacations. It’s a perfect destination for a weekend, families, or a quick getaway with short, affordable flights.
