Spain boasts the largest high-speed rail network in Europe and the second largest in the world, after China, making travel across the vast country easy and quick. Tomorrow, April 23, a new high-speed route will be added between Barcelona and Seville.

The AVE high-speed train connecting Barcelona and Seville eliminates the need to travel through Madrid and significantly shortens travel times, boosting tourism in both cities.

Tens of millions of tourists travel via Spain's coastal routes, and moving from region to region often involves lengthy and tedious journeys; the high-speed trains greatly reduce distances and enhance both local and international tourism.

The new route from the national railway company, Renfe, will begin operation, as mentioned, on April 23, and will run daily in both directions. Departures from Seville-Santa Justa station will start at 6:00 AM, arriving in Barcelona-Sants at 12:41, and continuing north to Figueres, near the French border, ending at 13:44. The train to Seville will depart from Barcelona at 16:58 daily, except on Saturdays, and will arrive in Seville at 22:49.

This new express line adds to the existing network of Renfe, which operates 6 daily trains between Seville and Barcelona, usually taking between 6 to 7 hours, depending on the route and schedule.

Barcelona is Spain's leading tourist destination, attracting over 12 million visitors in 2024. Seville drew more than 3 million tourists last year and ranks as the third most visited destination in the country.
