Poland's national airline, LOT Polish Airlines, has announced the opening of a new direct flight route from Warsaw to Marrakech – one of the most sought-after and colorful tourist destinations in North Africa.
The announcement was made by the company's CEO, Michał Fijoł, at the 17th European Economic Congress held in Katowice.
The new route will commence on October 29 and will operate twice a week between Warsaw Chopin Airport and Marrakech Menara Airport.
This is a strategic move aimed at expanding the airline's destination network and strengthening air connections between Eastern Europe and the Maghreb region.
Marrakech, considered the cultural capital of Morocco, attracts millions of tourists each year due to its impressive architecture, colorful markets, culinary experiences, and rich history. The opening of the new route will provide Polish passengers with convenient access to the city, as well as offer travelers from Morocco a new and convenient gateway to Poland and many destinations across Europe.
"The opening of the Marrakech route is a reflection of our commitment to expanding services and making diverse destinations accessible to our passengers," said Fijoł. "It is a uniquely charming destination, and we are happy to add it to our list of destinations."
This move aligns with a global trend of expanding flight routes to exotic destinations, reinforcing the demand for winter tourism in North African countries.
And that's not all: Poland's national airline also launched a direct flight route from Warsaw to Malta in the heart of the Mediterranean last week.
The new route will operate four times a week – on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays – throughout the year.
Flights will depart from Warsaw Chopin Airport and land at Malta International Airport, near the capital city Valletta.
Malta offers a unique combination of history, nature, and beaches – perfect for short getaways and extended stays. The new route opens up another opportunity for European tourists and travelers from Central and Eastern Europe to experience a sunny, accessible, and charming destination.
