Saudi airline group "SAUDIA" has signed an agreement with Airbus for the order of 10 A330-900 aircraft for its subsidiary, flyadeal.

The order for the subsidiary paves the way for the expansion of long-haul flights by the airline group while promoting its goal to operate the youngest fleet among low-cost airlines in the Middle East.

The agreement was announced at a signing ceremony held at Airbus facilities in Toulouse, attended by Ibrahim Al Omer, CEO of the SAUDIA group, Christian Scherer, CEO of Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, Saleh Eid, Vice President for Fleet Management and Agreements at SAUDIA, and Benoit de Saint-Affrique, Vice President of Commercial Aircraft Sales at Airbus.

Ibrahim Al Omer stated: "This deal marks a key milestone in our ambitious strategy to modernize and expand our fleet. It builds on last year's historic agreement with Airbus for 105 aircraft.

This step aligns with our national strategies under Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to connect 250 destinations and transport 150 million passengers by 2030."

The SAUDIA group ordered 105 Airbus aircraft, including 54 A321neo aircraft for flyadeal in May 2024.

Currently, flyadeal operates a fleet of 37 aircraft from the A320 family, while SAUDIA operates a fleet of 93 aircraft from the A320 and A330 families.

The A330-900, powered by the latest generation of Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, is capable of flying 13,300 km non-stop. The A330neo features the award-winning Airspace cabin, offering passengers a unique experience, a high level of comfort, ambiance, and design. It includes more personal space, larger overhead storage compartments, a new lighting system, and access to the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems.
