Lufthansa is expanding in Romania: a fifth destination will be added in the summer of 2025.
The airline group continues to deepen its presence in the Romanian market with the launch of a new flight route to the city of Oradea from its base in Munich.
Starting June 1, 2025, Lufthansa will operate three weekly flights on the Munich–Oradea route using CRJ 900 aircraft from Lufthansa CityLine. The flights will take place on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
With the launch of this new route, Oradea joins Bucharest, Timișoara, Sibiu, and Cluj-Napoca, bringing Lufthansa's number of destinations in Romania to five.
Oradea, located near the Hungarian border, serves as an important gateway for tourists wishing to visit the Carpathian mountain range and the popular thermal spa sites in the region.

Amidst this expansion, Lufthansa also highlights a 33% increase in the number of Romanian overnight stays in Munich between 2019 and 2024 — a figure indicative of the strengthening ties between the two countries, both from a tourism and business perspective. Additionally, the new route is expected to enhance travel options for the large Romanian community in North America.
