Romanian airline FLYYO, which launched its operations in Israel in April 2024 with charter and ACMI flights, is continuing to deepen its presence in the local market.
As of May 1, 2025, the airline has stationed a second Airbus A320-214 at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV), a move that, according to the company, reinforces its commitment to the region and enables it to respond more quickly, reliably, and efficiently to growing demand.
The aircraft, registered as YR-ADC, was acquired in July 2024, joining FLYYO’s growing fleet, which now consists of two A320-214s. A third aircraft is also expected to join the fleet later this month for regular operations.
The placement of the aircraft in Israel will allow FLYYO to expand its service offerings, providing additional charter and ACMI solutions to destinations across Europe.
What is ACMI?
ACMI is a wet lease model in which one airline leases an aircraft to another along with key operational components. The acronym stands for:
A – Aircraft
C – Crew
M – Maintenance
I – Insurance
This model allows airlines to outsource capacity while relying on the provider to manage core operational responsibilities.
Since its launch in the Israeli market, FLYYO has signed year-long charter contracts with several leading Israeli tour operators, including Flying Carpet, Kishrey Teufa, and Over Seas, part of the Genesis Group — as first reported by PassportNews.
Together with its Israeli partners, FLYYO currently operates flights to 26 destinations across Europe, including: Athens, Bratislava, Budapest, Paris, Catania, Heraklion, Karlovy Vary, Kalamata, Krakow, Kaunas, Larnaca, Lyon, Mytilene, Malta, Mulhouse, Paphos, Pula, Piestany, Rhodes, Thessaloniki, Split, Strasbourg, Venice, Vilnius, and Zadar.
Founded in 2021 under the name Aerro Direkt, FLYYO rebranded to its current name as part of a strategic repositioning. The airline holds a Third Country Operator (TCO) license from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, allowing it to operate freely across the European Union.
In 2023, the company underwent a significant strategic and branding transformation and now operates under the FLYYO brand to better represent its commercial ambitions and broaden market reach. This transition was further solidified following its acquisition by the Meiberg family, who bring with them over 30 years of experience in aviation and tourism.
Under the leadership of CEO Ziv Meiberg, an Israeli national, the airline has expanded its workforce, begun modernizing its fleet, and adopted innovative business strategies to support its growth trajectory.
FLYYO officially launched its charter and ACMI activity in April 2024, with the inaugural flight of its first Airbus A320-214.
The airline emphasizes that the stationing of a second aircraft in Israel is a core part of its expansion strategy, with the aim of becoming a key player in the ACMI and charter flight market — both in Israel and across Europe.
