Israir is making a significant move in the Israeli aviation market: within the next three months, all nine aircraft in its fleet will be equipped with advanced in-flight Wi-Fi systems. Passengers will soon be able to browse the internet, check emails, use apps, and even stream content — all while flying, including on short-haul routes.
The installation process has already begun at Ben Gurion Airport and includes both company-owned aircraft and long-term leased planes.
According to Israir, the project’s success isn’t just about hardware — the real focus is ensuring quality performance in the air, including strong signal stability, speed, and bandwidth handling for multiple users.
A Competitive Leap in the Local Market
While major carriers like Delta, United, and Air Canada primarily offer Wi-Fi on long-haul flights, Israir’s decision to implement it across short-haul operations marks a major service upgrade and a clear technological leap forward.
Even Israel’s flag carrier, EL AL, currently offers Wi-Fi on its transatlantic routes. Now, Israir positions itself alongside global names offering in-flight connectivity — not only Emirates, LOT, and Air Europa, but also domestic competitor Arkia, which currently offers Wi-Fi on two Airbus aircraft.
The service will be available for a fee, with Israir hinting at possible future bundles or premium upgrades.
Next Stop: New York
As part of Israir’s broader strategic vision, and as first reported by PassportNews, the airline is planning another milestone: a direct flight route to New York, slated to launch in time for Passover 2026.
Israir CEO Uri Sirkis commented: “Now is the right time to break into the U.S. market. The demand is strong, the market is ready — and we’re coming with a powerful product.”
Around the world, in-flight connectivity is becoming standard — whether free or paid. The real game-changer over the past year has been the expansion of Wi-Fi services to narrow-body aircraft, used primarily on short and medium-haul routes, including to and from Israel.
Israir is now catching up, aligning itself with Europe’s leading carriers and setting a clear vision: to offer a more connected, convenient, and forward-looking flight experience.
With a fully connected fleet, a transatlantic route on the horizon, and a customer-first service model, Israir — part of the Rami Levy Group — is sending a clear signal: this is only the beginning.
