Air Samarkand launched a new regular route to Israel, with plans to expand with an additional weekly flight starting in July. The route uses modern Airbus aircraft, linking Tel Aviv with the historic city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan's cultural center of the Silk Road

New Airline Expands Flights to Israel

The developing airline of Uzbekistan, Air Samarkand, launched its first flights on the Samarkand - Tel Aviv route yesterday.

The company’s representative in Israel, Asia Travel, noted that the new route is operated with a modern Airbus A330, and the flight duration between the two countries is approximately 5.5 hours.

Passengers on the inaugural flight, conducted yesterday (Sunday), received a traditional welcome in the airports of both countries.

From July onwards, an additional weekly flight will be added on Thursdays. The flights will be operated using A330 aircraft (313 seats) or A321 (194 seats) based on demand.

For Israeli passengers, this provides convenient access to a new and fascinating destination: Samarkand, the historic center of the Silk Road and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Besides tourism, the launch of the route strengthens business travel and economic cooperation with Uzbekistan.

"We see ongoing interest from tourists, pilgrims, and business travelers – and the new service will provide a quality, competitive, and accessible option," stated Zafar Botibayev, CEO of Air Samarkand.

Modern Fleet and Ambitious Development Plan

Air Samarkand currently operates an advanced fleet of aircraft, including wide-body Airbus A330 and narrow-body A321, suitable for international flights of varying lengths.

The airline's fleet is undergoing rapid expansion as part of a multi-year development strategy, which includes strengthening existing routes, opening new destinations, and significant investment in passenger experience.

The airline operates from the newly opened Samarkand International Airport – which has been upgraded comprehensively in recent years. The airport offers modern infrastructure, spacious terminals, and advanced management and security systems, serving as a central gateway for tourism and commerce in southwestern Uzbekistan.

The route to Tel Aviv joins a list of international destinations already serviced by Air Samarkand with direct flights, including Istanbul, Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Sharm El Sheikh, Phu Quoc, Delhi, and Tbilisi. Additionally, the company offers charter flights to dozens of other destinations and is currently advancing plans to open routes to Europe, the Gulf, and Asia.

Flight tickets are available for purchase on the company's official website and through the tourism agency Asia Travel, the official representative of the company in Israel.
