New Direct Route From Abu Dhabi to Shanghai Strengthens UAE's Strategic Link to the East

The collaboration between China Eastern Airlines and Etihad Airways is launching with a new flight route from Shanghai to Abu Dhabi – initially four times a week, and later daily.

In a significant milestone for strengthening strategic ties between China and the UAE, China Eastern Airlines Global has successfully launched a new direct flight route between Shanghai's Pudong Airport (PVG) and Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH).

The new route, which will operate four times a week until September 12, 2025, when it will expand to regular daily service, marks the official opening of a joint venture between China Eastern Airlines Global and Etihad Airways.

This initiative aims to strengthen direct air links between the two nations, leading to a significant increase in tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between the East and the Gulf. This connection also supports Abu Dhabi's vision to serve as a leading global hub for international aviation.

The companies emphasize that this is only the first step in a long-term partnership, intended not just for airport connections but for enhancing economic and cultural cooperation between dynamically growing regions with rising international status.
