Delta Air Lines announced this week a sweeping reform of its product structure, set to take effect on flights starting October 1, 2025. Under this plan, the company will offer passengers a personalized flight experience based on new class names, modular service levels, and significant technological upgrades.

According to the company, the changes aim to improve transparency in the booking process and provide greater flexibility for passengers, according to their preferences and travel habits.

Structural Change: New Class Names and Service Levels

The new model includes updated terminology for service classes, alongside an internal division into different service levels within each class. Here's what the updated structure will look like:

  • Delta Main (formerly Main Cabin): Will include the levels Basic, Classic, and Extra

  • Delta Comfort (formerly Comfort+): Will include the levels Classic and Extra

  • Delta First (formerly First Class): Will include the levels Classic and Extra

  • Delta Premium Select and Delta One will remain unchanged

With the new model, Delta allows each passenger to choose the service level that suits them, with a clear distinction between features like ticket flexibility, personal space, boarding times, and additional services.

Technological Innovations: Delta Sync and Delta Concierge

In addition to product changes, the company announced the launch of a new entertainment system called Delta Sync, which includes: Personal 4K HDR screens

  • Bluetooth connectivity

  • Personalized content

At the same time, Delta Concierge will also be launched - an AI-based digital assistant integrated into the Fly Delta app. The assistant will provide real-time relevant information, alerts, and personalized recommendations throughout the flight stages.

SkyMiles members will also gain access to ad-free YouTube content during flights as part of a partnership between the companies.

Delta explained that the move is based on a deep understanding of travelers' current consumption habits:

"Passengers expect more control over what they purchase and greater transparency about what's included in each service level," the company stated. "We are adapting the product to a new reality."

The Beginning of Change: October 2025

The initiative will take effect on October 1, 2025, initially operating on select flights. Bookings under the new structure are already available on the Delta website.

The company has not yet announced changes in pricing or expected impacts on international flights, but noted that it will continue to update passengers ahead of the launch.
