Delta Air Lines Returns to Israel.

The American airline landed this morning (Tuesday, May 21) at Ben Gurion Airport from JFK Airport in New York, while other airlines from North America that paused their flights still haven't resumed, as well as many airlines worldwide.

Flight DL234, which departed yesterday at 3:40 PM US time, landed shortly after 9:00 AM at Ben Gurion Airport. The renewed route is operated with an Airbus A330-900neo.

The company's announcement about renewing its flights might encourage other airlines to resume routes to Israel. Delta stated, "The decision to renew flights, which were temporarily suspended due to the ongoing security situation in the region, was made after a comprehensive risk assessment by the airline."

Additionally, they added, "Delta continues to monitor developments in the security arena closely and conducts operational assessments according to security guidelines and intelligence reports."

Strengthening Presence in Israel

In an interview we conducted last month with Matteo Curcio, Delta's Senior Vice President, he told Passportnews, "We continuously monitor our customers' priorities and these demand patterns, along with operational considerations and safety assessments, will determine when we renew these flights. Delta has strengthened its presence in Israel through a code-share agreement with El-Al. This partnership has enabled Delta customers to book direct flights with El-Al to Tel Aviv from major U.S. cities, including New York-JFK, Newark, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale."

Regarding the product offered by the company, he mentioned: "The A330-900neo is the latest addition to our fleet, offering passengers a choice of four unique cabin experiences. Delta One Suites include fully flat seats, luxurious bedding, and private doors, combined with chef-crafted meals and premium beverages. Delta Premium Select offers enhanced comfort with wider seats and additional legroom, while Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin provide roomy seats, memory foam cushions, and personalized entertainment with over 1,000 hours of content."

He also noted, "All classes offer state-of-the-art features, including ambient lighting for a relaxing flight. In addition, the launch of Delta's industry-leading Wi-Fi is reaching another milestone. All customers flying on Delta's transatlantic network to Israel, Europe, and West Africa have access to fast and free Wi-Fi."

Delta reminds that seats can continue to be booked on Delta's global code-share partner flights, subject to availability. The company also allows flexible booking conditions for flights planned until May 25, 2025.
