Infrastructure Revolution at Miami International Airport (MIA): The Miami-Dade County Commission has approved the construction of the new Concourse K – a groundbreaking project within the ambitious development program Future-Ready: Modernization in Action, with a total scope of $9 billion.

An Investment of $600.6 Million – Heading to 77 Million Passengers a Year

The project, backed by an investment of $600.6 million, is expected to significantly expand the airport's capacity and meet the growing demand for passenger and cargo traffic. Upon completion, the airport will be able to serve up to 77 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo annually by 2040.

Concourse K Will Include:

Six new flight gates

A maintenance facility for ground equipment

A hydrant system for jet fueling

Two new carousels for outbound luggage

Upgrades to baggage handling systems – linking the central and southern terminals

Sustainable design aiming for LEED Silver certification

Construction to Start This Summer – Opening Expected in Spring 2029

Construction is set to begin this upcoming summer following a ceremonial launch, with opening planned for Spring 2029. This marks the first terminal expansion since 2007 – a significant event also symbolizing the region's economic growth.

? A Bustling Airport – And the Future is Already Here

In 2024 alone, approximately 56 million passengers passed through MIA, with over 3 million tons of cargo recorded – peaks demanding an immediate and effective infrastructure response. The Concourse K project aims not only to increase capacity but also to streamline operational flow, enhance the passenger experience, and ensure maximum operational safety.

"A Historic Moment for Miami"

"MIA hasn't seen terminal expansion since 2007, and this move marks a revolutionary milestone. Concourse K will add capacity, create thousands of new jobs, and strengthen our position as a top-tier global gateway" – said Miami-Dade County Mayor, Daniella Levine Cava.

"Thanks to the collaboration of the commission, airport director Ralph Cutié, and the team of partners, we're making bold and smart investments in building a strong, community-focused, and future-ready airport."

? A Global Gateway, A Regional Engine

Concourse K is part of the broader vision to transform MIA into a global transportation hub, supporting Miami's economic growth while maintaining environmental quality, high service standards, and community integration.
