Photo: Ido Vechtel Flydubai Restores Damascus Route flydubai announced today (May 21) the resumption of its direct flight route to Damascus, the capital of Syria, starting June 1, 2025. This makes flydubai the first airline from the United Arab Emirates to renew air operations to the Syrian market after a 12-year suspension.
The flights to Damascus offered by the UAE airline operating 8 daily flights to Israel will be available daily, departing from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Damascus International Airport (DAM). Tickets are now on sale, with starting prices from 2,000 dirhams in the economy class and 10,000 dirhams in the business class.
The CEO of the company, Ghaith Al Ghaith, stated, "We are pleased to be the first national airline to renew air operations to Syria. Damascus has a unique cultural and historical importance in the region, and we are excited to return to serve the city with daily direct flights. This is another step in supporting the UAE's efforts to promote regional connectivity."
Damascus was one of the first destinations flydubai operated to when flights began back in June 2009 – about 16 years ago. The decision to resume operations was made after the UAE's Civil Aviation Authority's declaration this April, permitting the renewal of air routes between the countries.
According to Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai: "The return to Damascus will offer passengers from the Emirates and our international network convenient options to this important market. After a comprehensive process of meeting all operational standards with the authorities, we look forward to welcoming travelers again – just in time for the summer season and Eid al-Adha."
flydubai currently operates a network of over 130 destinations in 56 countries, including 98 markets that were not previously connected directly to Dubai.
The company's fleet includes 88 modern and efficient Boeing 737 aircraft.
