Flydubai Returns to Damascus: A Historic Move After 12 Years

Flydubai resuming flights to Syria. Flydubai announced today (May 21) that it will resume its direct flights to Damascus, the capital of Syria, starting June 1, 2025. This makes Flydubai the first airline from the United Arab Emirates to renew air operations to the Syrian market after a 12-year hiatus.

The Emirates-based airline currently operates 8 daily flights to Israel will offer daily flights from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Damascus International Airport (DAM). Tickets are now available for purchase, with prices starting from 2,000 Dirhams in Economy Class and 10,000 Dirhams in Business Class.

The company CEO, Ghaith Al Ghaith, stated: "We are pleased to be the first national airline to renew air operations to Syria. Damascus holds a unique cultural and historical significance in the region, and we are excited to once again serve the city with daily direct flights. This is another step in supporting the UAE's efforts to promote regional connectivity."

Damascus was one of the initial destinations Flydubai operated to, with flights beginning in June 2009, about 16 years ago. The decision to resume operations followed the announcement by the UAE's aviation authority earlier this April, allowing the restoration of air routes between the countries.

According to Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations and E-commerce at Flydubai: "Returning to Damascus will provide travelers from the UAE and our international network with convenient options to this important market. After a comprehensive process of meeting all operational standards with the authorities, we look forward to welcoming passengers again - just in time for the summer season and Eid al-Adha."

Flydubai currently operates a network of over 130 destinations in 56 countries, 98 of which were not previously connected directly to Dubai.

The company fleet consists of 88 modern and efficient Boeing 737 aircraft.
