Two Killed in Washington Shooting: Foreign Minister Responds
A deadly shooting took place this morning near the Jewish Museum in Washington during an event organized by an American Jewish organization. According to reports, two Israeli Embassy workers in the city were killed in the tragic incident.
The shooter was apprehended by local security forces, and the circumstances are being investigated.
The Foreign Minister posted on X: "Terrible news this morning with the shocking terrorist act, in which two Israeli Embassy workers in Washington were killed. Representatives of the State of Israel are always at risk, especially at this time. I spoke with our Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, who arrived at the scene, and we are in contact with the American authorities. Israel will not succumb to terror."
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar spoke briefly with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, who expressed his condolences and updated him that an intensive investigation is underway, involving various American authorities under the supervision of top law enforcement officials, who already visited the scene of the attack this morning.
