Larnaca is the leading destination and shows the most significant growth for summer vacations in Europe, according to a new study published by the Spanish tourism trends analysis and forecasting company, Forwardkeys. The study indicates a 17% increase in demand for holidays in this Cypriot resort city.
Generally and unsurprisingly, the top summer destinations are more "sun and beach" spots rather than urban vacations. The second place goes to Catania in Sicily, third is Heraklion in Crete, and fourth is Palma de Mallorca.
However, Heraklion is not the only Greek representative in the study. The fifth spot is held by the island Rhodes. Further down the list, you can also find Palermo and only in seventh place is a "classic urban destination," which is Prague.
The top ten destination list for summer 2025 is completed by Ponta Delgada in the Azores, followed by Bergen and Reykjavik.

Cyprus' airports have both seen a significant rise in passenger traffic over the past year (Larnaca and Paphos), and a significant renovation program will soon be implemented.
Larnaca is considered an attractive mix of beautiful beaches, rich local culture, and importantly, an affordable option, significantly cheaper than Western Europe.
