Severe Crisis: Venezuela Shuts Down Border with Colombia – Flights Canceled.

Starting tonight (Friday, May 23, 2025, at 00:01), the Venezuelan regime has closed the land border with Colombia – authorities in Caracas have announced. The decision also includes a complete cancellation of all flights between the two countries. According to the official statement, the border will remain closed for 96 hours and is expected to reopen next Tuesday, May 27, at 00:00.

The surprising decision impacts thousands of travelers, including business people, families, and tourists, who now have to explore alternative transportation options in the area.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of State has renewed its call for citizens to avoid all travel to Venezuela. "The U.S. government has no ability to provide emergency services in the country," stated the official announcement. The recommendation is based on reports of arbitrary arrests, severe crime, civil unrest, kidnappings, and arbitrary enforcement of laws.

It should be remembered that the U.S. closed its embassy in Caracas back in 2019, and since then, all consular services – routine and emergency – have been completely suspended.
