Flying Abroad from Haifa? Soon You Can Enjoy Duty-Free.
Layam Ltd. has won the Israel Airports Authority tender to operate a duty-free store at Haifa Airport, as the port resumes international operations. Currently, international flights to Larnaca and Athens are operated by Air Haifa. It should be noted that the company also operates domestic flights to Eilat.
The company is an industry veteran, running duty-free stores at Ben Gurion Airport and Haifa and Ashdod sea ports. Construction work on the store is set to begin in the coming days, with opening expected in a few weeks.
The store, covering an area of about 200 square meters, will offer international travelers a wide range of duty-free products - perfumes, spirits, electronics, tobacco, and more.
The contract is for up to four years, with an option for a 24-month extension. Similar to the Ben Gurion Airport duty-free store, items can be left at the port and collected upon return to the country.
According to the plan, and due to the increase in passenger volume, a new eatery is also expected to open at Haifa Airport pending an Israel Airports Authority tender.
