In a groundbreaking move for in-flight entertainment, United Airlines and Spotify have announced an exclusive partnership to provide passengers with over 450 hours of free content on more than 130,000 individual seat screens across 680 United aircraft, some of which are already equipped with 4K screens and Bluetooth headphone connectivity.

This is the first time Spotify offers video podcasts and audiobooks in-flight, allowing United passengers to enjoy over 65 select pieces of content, including popular shows like Good Hang with Amy Poehler, The Dave Chang Show, and The Comment Section with Drew Afualo.

Starting in 2026, passengers will be able to log in to the Spotify app directly from the seatback entertainment screen, enabling them to continue listening exactly from where they left off, even at an altitude of 35,000 feet.

Richard Nunn, CEO of MileagePlus: "Spotify is a brand everyone knows and loves—now it's taking to the skies. We're giving our passengers a new, enjoyable way to experience premium content during their flight."

Ian Geller, Vice President of Business Development at Spotify: "As a regular United flyer, it’s exciting to see Spotify enter the aviation world. This is a great opportunity to introduce creators to new audiences—and I’m particularly thrilled about the upcoming integration with personal streaming experiences."

How will it look in-flight?

United's entertainment system will feature a new category called "Spotify," which will include playlists, audio podcasts, video podcasts, and audiobooks. A dedicated category with all Spotify content in one place will be added later.

Additionally, on planes equipped with Starlink, passengers can stream Spotify content continuously via the personal app from takeoff to landing by logging into their MileagePlus account.

Additional benefits for passengers

To celebrate the launch, MileagePlus members who enroll in Spotify's Premium Individual plan will receive up to 1,000 bonus miles. The offer will be available across United platforms—in the app, on in-flight screens, in newsletters, and in passenger lounges.

Let us note that United Airlines will land in Israel again tomorrow after halting flights to the country due to security reasons.
