Revolutionizing In-Flight Experience: In a groundbreaking move for air travel, United Airlines and Spotify have announced an exclusive collaboration allowing passengers to enjoy over 450 hours of free content across more than 130,000 personal seatback screens on 680 United aircraft, some equipped with 4K screens and Bluetooth headphone connectivity.
This marks the first time Spotify offers video podcasts and audiobooks in-flight, enabling United passengers to enjoy over 65 selected titles, including popular content such as Good Hang with Amy Poehler, The Dave Chang Show, and The Comment Section with Drew Afualo.
Starting in 2026, personal access to the Spotify app will be available directly from the seatback entertainment screen, allowing passengers to continue listening from where they left off – even at 35,000 feet.
Richard Nunn, CEO of MileagePlus: "Spotify is a brand everyone knows and loves – and now it's coming to the skies. We're offering our passengers a new and enjoyable way to experience premium content during their flights."
Yan Geller, Vice President of Business Development at Spotify: "As a regular United user, it's exciting to see Spotify enter the aviation world. It's a fantastic opportunity to introduce creators to new audiences – and I'm especially thrilled about the upcoming personalized streaming experience."
Flight Experience:
United's entertainment system will feature a new "Spotify" category, comprising playlists, audio podcasts, video podcasts, and audiobooks. A dedicated category with all Spotify content will be added in due course.
Moreover, on aircraft equipped with Starlink, passengers can stream Spotify content continuously from their personal app, from takeoff to landing, by logging into their MileagePlus account.
Additional Perks:
For the launch, MileagePlus members joining Spotify's Premium Individual plan will receive up to 1,000 bonus miles. This offer will be available across United's platforms – in the app, on in-flight screens, newsletters, and in passenger clubs.
It is worth noting that United Airlines returns to Israel tomorrow, resuming flights after halting them due to security concerns.
